Doctor in South Pole Rescue Dies at 57 →
The story of Dr. Nielsen FitzGerald’s cancer is a great story but there is an even better story behind it all. I had the pleasure of meeting someone who was stationed with her when the events took place. The story this person told me painted a picture of a VERY different person, battling personalities and the repeated use of the words “passive aggressive” before, during and...

Froomkin out at Washington Post (UPDATED) →
It gets harder and harder to hope for the survival of newspapers as vital institutions when they do things like this. Froomkin is a talented writer/blogger/reporter who will land elsewhere and has a rosy future. Hard to say the same about the Post.

He: That's awesome, i wish i could do that.

TuneUp Puts Boxed Software in Apple’s Stores →
Wow. This takes TuneUp from a little company making a living to a chance to be huge. Getting it in the Apple stores increase the chances it’ll get picked up as an impulse item. The implied endorsement from Apple is a big step too. (Yes, I realize I’m late on this but I’m just digging into a stack of old RSS feeds with my morning coffee.)
